Good examples of parenting styles engender positive emotions, which are associated with improved learning. Each time we learn something there is an emotion associated
with that learning. Good examples of parenting styles create positive emotions that are associated with improved learning.
Hence, improve your child’s emotions and learning improves too. This makes sense, but how do positive emotions improve learning?
This is true because each time your child learns something; an emotion is associated with that learning. Emotions and feelings mediate or influence all learning. Therefore, positive emotions, like happiness, make learning easier, and negative emotions, like sadness, make learning
more difficult. Good examples of parenting styles tend to engender positive emotions that aid learning. You already knew that because you, probably, recall how difficult it was to learn something when you hated it or felt frightened by it, like just before a major test.
Boredom results when negative emotions are associated with learning. Boredom is probably the single most important reason normal children fail in school. This is, also, why parenting is so vital to learning. Positive examples of parenting styles create positive emotions and feelings that help improve learning and prevent boredom.
Keeping in mind the relationship between good examples of parenting styles and learning, encourage your child to learn by praising what he does right and praising him when he tries. Persistence is one of the most important factors related to successful learning. Good examples of parenting styles encourage persistence.
Parents, who remember the relationship between emotions and learning, provide positive opportunities for their child to learn at home. Make learning fun by, for example, doing daily crossword puzzles to improve vocabulary and reading interesting stories. Then don’t forget to praise your child to increase those positive emotions which facilitate learning. Remember, success in school is highly correlated to verbal ability as exemplified in vocabulary and reading.
Consider enrolling your child in the elementary or high school with the greatest variety of learning activities and enrichment programs to increase, not only her exposure to different learning experiences, but in the hopes she may discover her life’s bliss in one of these activities. Increase your child’s hopes, dreams, and imagination through reading about interesting or exciting pursuits and famous people.
Parents, by necessity, must be practical. Children, however, are not bound by practicality, nor should they be. Hence, don’t be afraid to encourage your child’s hopes, dreams, creativity and imagination. These mind activities create positive emotions and learning. Many people have attained greatness who when young were sustained by only their hopes and dreams. Thus, good examples of parenting styles, not only create positive emotions that enhance learning, but encourage their children’s hopes, dreams, creativity and imagination.
Create interest in learning by showing interest in your child’s education. Ask him questions about his school day. This can improve his emotions and learning. When your child returns from school be sure to find out what happened that day, how he did, and how he feels about what he did. Be specific. What interested him most in math? What grade did he get on his math homework assignment? Was he happy with that grade? Could he have done better? If not, why not? Tell him what you think. Don’t forget appropriate praise. What can be done to improve his school experience? Hence, good examples of parenting styles encourage learning by expressing interest in their child’s education. Look at your child and show him you’re excited about what he’s learning. From another perspective, why should he be excited about learning if you’re not? Remember, most of the time, your child takes his lead from you!
Good examples of parenting styles are those that, not only express interest in their child’s learning, but are genuinely interested in learning themselves.
Parents can contribute to positive emotions and learning by supporting their child with regular, cooperative parent and teacher communication. Never underestimate the importance
of your child’s teacher. You can encourage your child’s school to make learning a positive emotional experience. You can, also, get help for him/her from the teacher to assure that she experiences education positively.
Therefore, good examples of parenting styles are those that insure their child’s school success by keeping in contact with their child’s teacher. Parenting means regularly monitoring your child to see that he is doing what he’s supposed to be doing and benefiting from it. A parent unwilling to monitor his or her child is no parent at all.
When a problem occurs, good examples of parenting styles make the problem a problem and not the child. If a child is getting poor grades, he is not the problem. He still is a good kid and accepted by his parents. A potential plan is developed to solve the grade problem.
